On Sunday Night @ the Affton Barn, Our Lindbergh JV Flyers showed up from the drop of the first puck and had Summit on their heels. With a number of fans and students in the stands the team and chants were electrifying for a late Sunday Night game.
In net for the Lindbergh Flyers Joe Williams and for Summit Aiden Bosek. By the end of the night one of these goalies was going to feel like a late night pick up game goalie with over 20 odd man rushes and multiple break-aways throughout the game.
Breaking the 0-0 tie and only 1:53 into the game Mark FIsher lights the lamp after a slick pass from Stephens and a little over a minute later Patrick Bartz potted goal #2 after a bang-bang play from Hadziselmovic and Anderson. Lindbergh 2-0. After a few missteps Summit was able to score on Williams @ 4:19 of the period followed a short time later by GOAL #1 on the evening for Dennis Hadziselmovic, assisted by Fisher and Stephens. Lindbergh 3-1. Summit would add another goal @ 8:59 of the period unassisted by Martin after a galf in the defensive zone.
In the second period the play slowed down with saves by both Williams and Bozek. And at the 10:01 mark Alex Ringhofer skated end to end and potted the puck glove side just over the left pad of Bosek in net, with the assist and 3rd of the night to Jack Stephens.. Summit was kept off the board in the second period by WIlliams who had a great game going through 2 periods.
By the middle of the 3rd period Summit was just flat out being out worked. Hadziselmovic potted his second goal of the game @ 1:41 and missed the HAT TRICK a few minutes later with a HARD SLAPPER off the cross bar that bounced out... his goal was assited by Jake Williams. Lindbergh 5-2... And the final tally of the game and 4 point night was capped by Jack Stephens @ 6:26 of the period with a shot and score assisted by Tommy Wagner.
This was a full team effort and great game from puck drop the the final whistle.

The JV Flyers play their next game @ Desmet on Tuesday December 3rd - Queeny Park - 9pm.
The Varsity Team dressed in Green and Gold came out of the gates flying on Monday night and put pressure on Eureka the balance of the game.
At the 3:11 mark Brett Behrens put the puck in the back of the net on a pass from Cole Kersting. As the balance of the play was in the Eureka end through out the end and beginning on the 2nd period the Eureka goalie was putting on a bit of a show with 17 saves in the first period or this game would have ben out of control early. At the beginning of the second period the shots on net didn't slow down and @ 4:50 of the period after a pass from his brother Sam Hazelton, John Hazelton slapped in a bomb from the point with the second assist and second on the night to Cole Kersting.
The 3rd period started and ended with the Lindbergh Flyers taking it too the Eureka team with Walterman keeping the game close. At 1:18 of the period Russ Hess potted goal #3 with an assist from Brett Behrens and 3 point night from Cole Kersting. Finally breaking the shutout Eureka was able to get a shot passed Joe Williams of the Lindbergh Flyers @ 7:57 of the period Short Handed after a miss play at the blue line by the Flyers.

On Sunday night @ The OLD FENTON Barn....
Lindbergh JV v/ Seckman.
The game started out tight with both teams trying to put together plays and some early season jitters. Zero score through the first period with Seckman putting 9 shots on Joe Williams in net for the Flyers. Lindbergh with only 5 shots for the period.
2nd Period saw the game open up a bit and Seckman getting on the board @ 5:47 of the period by Hagan. Again being out shot by the Seckman team the period ended 1-0 Seckman with 6 shots for the period to the Flyers 2.
3rd Period was a shift in the tides as the Flyers took the last period too the tiring Jaguars. And @ 2:03 of the period Tommy Wagner batted in a rebound from in close on a shot by Simpson from the point. And not to be undone the defense gets on the board again @ 11:09 with John Anderson lighting the lamp after a feed from Luke Fisher. This goal turned out to be the game winner for the Lindbergh Flyers JV team and puts them at 2-1 on the season.
The next JV game is scheduled for Sunday Nov. 17th against Vianney Griffins JV-Black @ Affton 8pm...

IT WAS GAME NIGHT
LINDBERGH vs. VIANNEY.
The game started with a feeling out period for both teams with heavy hitting and puck play by the Vianney Griffin team. The first goal saw Vianney get on the board with a wheel play from the corner @ 7:01 beating Andrew Yocum high bar for the first goal. Shortly after Vianney added a second goal on a shot from the point that pinballed through 5 players and squeaked into the net @ 5:35 of the period. Lindbergh would not stay silent for long and @ 4:06 of the period Mason Budde roofed a shot over the Vianney goalie from the point. Assist to Behrens.
The second period started with a 3rd goal (12:13) from Vianney on another wheel play out of the corner and Goal #2 on the night by Gaither. Lindbergh chose to slow down the game a bit and changed goalies bringing in Junior Drew Moseley. On his first shot and hampered by some indecision on D the puck rolled up his pad into the net @ 11:07 for Vianney and a 4-1 lead. This would be the last goal of the game for Vianney as Moseley found his pace and stopped the next 16 shots over the last 2 periods.
At the beginning of the 3rd period the Flyers seemed to gain some confidence and began working the puck in the offensive zone and a back door pass lead to a goal @ 13:35 by Brian Wagner, Assisted by Kersting/M.Fischer. Roughly 5 minutes later @ 7:23 of the 3rd period the Flyers started getting some bounces and a shot from the point beat the Vianney Goalie after pinballing in the crease. GOAL - Kersting. Unassisted.
The Flyers team put on a big push and had a number of chances to even the score at the end before coming up one goal short against the Vianney Griffins.
The next Varsity game is this coming Friday @ Affton 10:05pm v.s Rockwood Summit. Come out and support your Lindbergh Flyers.
In a highly anticipated JV schedule the Lindbergh Flyers went up against SLUH, a known powerhouse in Saint Louis and defending State Champions 2 years in a row at the Varsity level.
The game began @ 10pm on the ice at Affton Hockey Rink and after a scoreless first period the Flyers were able to get on the board @ 9:11 of the period with a goal from Connor Morris, with assist going to Whitener/Blessing. By the end of the period SLUH would even the score with a shot that just sneaked past Grant Kennedy in net.
As the teams settled into the 3rd period and a few penalties giving SLUH a chance to go ahead, the Flyers potted another puck in the basket @ 6:13 of the 3rd period by Grant Blessing, Assisted by Simpson. And before the end of the period Alex Ringhofer snapped a puck past the SLUH goalie @:31 seconds left in the game. Assisted by Blessing/Whitener..
THE 3 STARS OF THE GAME:
1 - Grant Blessing - 1 Goal and 2 Assists
2 - Grant Kennedy - 1.00 GAA, and a .900 Save %
3 - Will Whitener - 2 Assists.
The Lindbergh Flyers JV will be in action Sunday evening for a big tilt against Seckman High @ Fenton - 8pm Game Time.
Lindbergh Varsity Hockey had its Season Opener @ Queeny Park Rink and wasted no time taking the game to the Parkway South Hockey Club. The Varsity team scored 2 goals in the first period and added a few short handed goals in the 2nd en-route to a 6-0 WIN.
